Course Description
A graduate seminar on the question: " What is Political Theory?" At least one semester of PS 112 or PS 113 ( or the equivalent) is a prerequisit. Class work consists of weekly readings and discussions ( rather than lecutres ) and preparation of a seminar paper on a topic selected by the student in consultation with the professor. Readings will include:
M. Heidegger, What is Called Thinking?
T. Kuhn, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions
T. Arendt, The Human Condition
C. Schmitt, The Concept of the Political
J. Ranciere Dis-agreement
And selections from M. Weber, S.S. Wolin, and L. Strauss.
