Personal Statement
I am a student of the history of moral and political philosophy. Before coming to Berkeley, I received my BA from Peking University (Philosophy), and my MA from Duke University (Political Science: Political Theory). I have been particularly interested in a group of deontic categories: law, justice, and obligation. Aristotle, early modern theories of natural law, and Kant help me navigate these areas. Now I am working on a dissertation on Kant and political obligation.
In 2026–2027, I will be a doctoral fellow of the Berkeley Center for Private Law Theory. My works have appeared (or are forthcoming) in Archiv für Geschichte der Philosophie, British Journal for the History of Philosophy, and Kantian Review:
