Thomas Abers Lourenço
Thomas Abers Lourenço is a Political Science PhD student specializing in Comparative Politics. His research focuses on political violence, especially in contexts of state repression and mass incarceration.
Prior to joining Berkeley, Thomas received his B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University in 2021. For his undergraduate research, Thomas was awarded Northwestern's R. Barry Farrell Prize for Academic Achievement in Political Science, as well as an Honorable Mention for best senior thesis. Before pursuing his PhD, Thomas also worked as a volunteer in the urban periphery of São Paulo.
