Dan Spokojny

Personal Statement

Dan is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of California at Berkeley. His research focuses on the nature of expertise in foreign policy, and the effect expertise within policymaking institutions. He is also interested in the determinants of success and failure in peace processes and negotiations. Prior to coming to Berkeley, Dan served in government for over a decade as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer and a legislative staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives. Dan received his undergraduate educate at the University of Michigan.

Personal Statement

Dan is pursuing his Ph.D. in Political Science at The University of California at Berkeley.  His interests include questions of intrastate instability, and drivers of political violence.  He is particularly interested in the determinants of success and failure in peace processes and negotiations.  Prior to coming to Berkeley, Dan served as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, and as a legislative staffer in the U.S. Congress.  Dan was educated at the University of Michigan.
