Course Description: 

This course explores the dynamics of war from two perspectives: contemporary social science research and fictional narratives.  Topics include war onset, civilian targeting, and nuclear first-use.  The course focuses on analyzing and comparing the causal explanations put forward by these two distinct approaches to making sense of human behavior and major events.
