Kathleen Klaus

I am a visiting scholar in the Political Science Department at UC Berkeley for the 2024-25 academic year.  I am also an associate senior lecturer in the Department of Peace and Conflict Research (DPCR) at Uppsala University (Sweden). 

My research sits at the intersection of international relations and comparative politics, and focuses on political violence and peacebuilding, divisive elections, land rights, climate change, and forced migration, with a regional focus on sub-Saharan Africa, and East Africa in particular. I am also working on newer project examining the joint production of election violence across the U.S, Europe, and Africa.
