Course Description
This course will focus on some significant texts in the Renaissance and Early Modern periods, including Erasmus, Education of a Christian Prince; Machiavelli, The Prince; Hobbes, Leviathan; the US Constitution; Federalist and Anti-Federalist essays; and Tocqueville, Democracy in America. Students will be expected to purchase, read, and discuss five books over the course of the semester. Electronic devices will not be permitted without official accommodations.
