The Department of Political Science is pleased to support the following student organizations. For information on the organizations, contact information, or how to join, please refer to their website, given below.
Undergraduate Political Science Association
The Undergraduate Political Science Association (UPSA) is a non-partisan, student-run organization sponsored by the Charles and Louise Travers Department of Political Science. Our mission is to serve the needs of all students interested in the professional, social, and academic aspects of politics. UPSA accomplishes this by offering resources to enrich the education of students by building meaningful relationships and by establishing a sense of political community within the department. For more information e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or visit their website at: http://www.berkeleyupsa.com (external link).
Pi Sigma Alpha Honors Society
The Iota chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha (PSA) at UC Berkeley was started several years ago to provide dedicated Cal Political Science majors a forum to have their voices heard within the department and nationally. Pi Sigma Alpha gives members a chance to participate in and plan lectures, debates, and essay contests. Additionally, Pi Sigma Alpha is an excellent way for students who excel academically to meet with peers, professors, and staff of the Political Science department. The Berkeley Chapter of PSA has five officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Publicist), five committee chairs and one Webmaster, all divided into five distinct committees. We work closely with the Political Science department, the Career Center, and the local community in providing a better atmosphere for the students. All senior PSA members who have satisfied chapter requirements are honored at the Political Science department's graduation ceremony.
In order to qualify for Pi Sigma Alpha membership, students must be junior or senior declared Political Science majors and hold a 3.5 GPA in major classes and a 3.3 cumulative GPA. Undeclared potential majors are not eligible for membership but are welcome at all PSA events, including the professor dinners.
