Graduate Students

Personal Statement:

I am a third year PhD student affiliated with the Institute of Governmental Studies. I received my Master's in Political Science from The Ohio State University and my Bachelor's in International Relations from Lake Forest College.

I study American politics with a focus on public opinion, political psychology, immigration, and racial and ethnic politics. Specifically, my research investigates the psychological motivations behind political participation and opinion formation, especially as they relate to identifying with racial and ethnic groups. I also examine how satisfying certain motivations can decrease prejudice and hostility in political behavior. My work has appeared in Politics, Groups and Identities and the Journal of Politics.
