Political Theory/Philosophy

The course and seminar offerings in Political Theory reflect a wide range of interest on the part of the faculty teaching in the field: Classical and Modern Political Philosophy (both European and American), Marxist Theory, the historical role of political intellectuals in the development of modern societies, and so on. There are also a significant number of political theorists and philosophers active in the Law School, the departments of Classics, Rhetoric, History, English, and Comparative Literature whose courses are open to political science students. In addition to graduate courses and seminars, there are a number of undergraduate classes from which graduate students may profit. Finally, it is possible for students to work individually with faculty members in tutorials dealing with subjects of mutual concern.
