Professor de Figueiredo received his Ph.D. from Stanford in 1997. His research
interests are American bureaucratic structure and performance:
administrative procedures, policy durability, and agency jurisdictions,
comparative institutional analysis, formal theory, ethnic
conflict, political behavior, and interest group competition
and strategies. He teaches courses on business and public
policy, institutions, and formal theory of political institutions.
His recent articles include, "Electoral Competition, Political
Uncertainty and Policy Insulation," (submitted to American
Political Science Review), and "The Politics of Interpretation:
Rationality, Culture and Tradition," (co-authored in Politics
and Society, June 1998).
